DSL is a new service that provides simultaneous high-speed data services over a single pair of copper, allowing an Œalways on¹ connection to the Internet. The DSL Internet connection is much faster than today¹s analog or digital modems, with speeds from 64 kbps to 4mbps and higher. All speeds are symmetric, meaning they operate at the same speed in both directions.

DSL works over standard phone lines and is purchased as an additional constant connection service. In order for a customer to access a DSL Line from Bell Canada, they must meet certain criteria.

Currently, the customer location must be less than 5km to 8km from the Central Office (CO) and be on copper wire.

The equipment requirements for DSL service are a Network Interface Card (NIC) which is installed in your PC and a DSL modem. A network hub may be used to attach multiple PCs, or a router may be used to attach a Local Area Network (LAN).

Fiber Core Communications installs and maintains DSL networks. At speeds ranging from 64 Kbps to 4 Mbps, DSL is the perfect access solution for small or large business high-speed data connectivity.
